COURT FINES MORAY FARMING PARTNERSHIP AS 13-YEAR-O

A Moray farming partnership was yesterday (25 August 2010) fined £13,500 at Elgin Sheriff Court following an incident where a 13-year-old boy fell through the roof of a farm building and sustained serious injuries from which he later died.
The incident happened on 21 August 2006. Austin Irvine,watches, who was the stepson of the farm’s junior partner, was watching the gutter in the valley between the cattle shed and feed passage roofs being cleared.
He was raised up to roof level in the bucket of a tractor by his stepfather and the boy walked onto the roof. As he walked across the roof he stepped onto a skylight which collapsed. He fell through the skylight, around four-four and a half metres (approximately 13 feet) to the ground and suffered serious injuries from which he later died.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into the incident revealed that there was no proper edge protection on the roof and no measures in place to prevent falls through the corrugated asbestos cement sheeting which made up the roof.
John Irvine and Son, of Inverlochy Farm, Tomintoul, Ballindalloch, pleaded guilty to breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

"This tragedy should never have happened and could have been prevented if John Irvine and Son had properly assessed the risks of working on a fragile roof and taken steps to prevent falls through the roof.

If possible, avoid going on fragile roofs and always keep children clear of high risk activities. State Regulators for Crackdown on Fraudulent Medic
Betty Heiman, Founder and President of Transparent Health Network (THN), praised the announcement made today that the FTC and State enforcement officials will crackdown on scammers who target uninsured, unemployed and uninsurable individuals by peddling fraudulent medical discount plans. PRESEASON LOOK AT LADY GOVERNORS VOLLEYBALL

Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball team has a thankful distinction from other Fall sports reporting to campus for preseason activities – the heat will not be an issue.
However, with summer graduation occupying the Dunn Center and a delay on getting the Memorial Health Building ready for use,Beads necklace, first-year head coach Haley Janicek has her own set of problems. For the time being, volleyball preseason camp is taking place in the Foy Center,necklaces, using one of the three courts designated for student activities.
Although the results have been pleasant over the past two years, the program is amidst its third coaching change in that span. Two years ago Mississippi State came calling for then-head coach Jenny Hazelwood after leading Austin Peay to a third-place Ohio Valley Conference regular-season finish. Austin Peay brought in west-coast product Mike Johnson, who overhauled the system and turned in a second-place league finish, only to see him leave for Xavier two months before Fall reporting.
That twisting and turning in the coaching ranks has not affected the program adversely, as the players have grown closer together throughout much of the coaching confusion. Their performance on the court has improved and even after losing OVC Player of the Year Stephanie Champine, the team was picked sixth in the OVC’s preseason poll. Should they finish sixth, it would mean their third OVC tournament appearance in three years.
Highlighting the returning group is senior setter Sarah Alisaleh and senior middle blocker Jessica Mollman,Charm pendant, both of whom were named the All-OVC preseason squad. Alisaleh may be the best setter in the league – she was first-team All-OVC last season – after becoming the fourth APSU player to record multiple 1,watches,000-assists campaigns in a career. Mollman, meanwhile, was a second-team All-OVC pick last season with a .312 attack percentage that ranked seventh-best in league play.
The good news for Austin Peay’s volleyball team is when it comes to change, enough is enough. Janicek will continue to use the west-coast system that set gyms afire last season.
