50+ Ways To Easy Scrapbooking

1. You don’t need to write a book when you journal (no pun intended). Short on time? Just include names and dates. How about adding a short, descriptive blurb, say “Swimming at Lake Candlewood”.

2. Matt your photos. You don’t need embellishments to fancy up your pages. Just add a brightly colored or color-coordinated mat behind your picture. But be careful, too much matting will cause your page to look too busy and overcrowded.

3. Use kits. Most kits come with everything you need to make a great album. They are usually theme-related.

4. Use Pre-designed albums. These completely fit the bill for those of you who just don’t have the time. Great for gift-giving.

5. Steal a layout idea from a friend (I’m sure she’d be honored) or online.

6. Save some time by having a “crop” session sitting in front of the TV one night, so when you go to scrapbook, it’s already done! TIP for cropping: cut out everything that isn’t pertinent (do you really need that stranger in the background?).

7. Organize your photos. This time have an “organize your photos” session in front of the TV. Organize them by date, season, event.

8. Stuck? Pick a color that POPS out of your photo and use that as the color theme for your layout.

9. Have all of your supplies at your fingertips. This way when you are ready to move forward, you will be prepared. No more “where did I put those darn scissors!”

10. Be organized (see #9)! Have a section of your home (office, corner of bedroom, closet…) dedicated to scrapbooking and organize so everything will be easy to find. Label your drawers, use shoe boxes for your smaller supplies, you get the picture.

11. Use patterned paper as a background for your layout. This takes all the guesswork out of how you are going to design your page. Glue down some photos and you’re done!

12. Use a punch to add a little pizzazz. It’s as fast as, well, punching a hole! You can also add some style to the corners of your photos this way.

13. Cut apart a patterned piece of paper, say a flower Tiffany Watch, and use as a die cut on your page.

14. Take scrapbook paper and a paper trimmer and cut out angles. Adhere these to your scrapbook page for a quick design.

15. Tear some scrapbook paper to give your layout dimension. You can use your hands or purchase some inexpensive tear edgers to help with this job.

16. Good old fashioned stickers add great depth and creativity to your pages.

17. Adhere your photos to your page on a tilt for an interesting look.

18. You don’t need to title all your pages. A little journaling may be all you need.

19. Oops! You’ve messed up your journaling…we’ve all been there. Quick fix: cut out a square of paper to cover your mistake and voila –you just got another chance!

20. Use as little supplies as you can, this way you won’t be overwhelmed (album, paper, stickers, pens, adhesives, scissors and of course, photographs, are really all you need to get started)!

21. Have too much paraphernalia from your big family vacation? Add a clear pocket to the back inside cover of your album and store them there. Just make sure it’s acid free.

22. Use thick foam adhesives to stick down your photos to add dimension.

23. Just choose 1-3 photos to fit on a page. Too many equals too crowded. Store the rest of the pictures in an acid free photo box.

24. Lay your page out prior to starting. Decide how it’s going to look and if you can’t get it into an album right away, file what you’re going to use into a folder or a page planner.

25. Don’t stress. Your layouts don’t need to be elaborate. The important thing is that your photos are safely put into an acid free scrapbook.

26. Too many photos for one event? Weed through them and get rid of blurry, redundant and distracting pictures. It can be stressful thinking you have to use ALL the photos you took when you don’t.

27. Use die cuts. There are some really great die cut machines out there like the Cricut and Epic 6. Die cuts will really dress without the stress!

28. Use a tag to journal. It will add some fun to your layout and alleviate the stress of how to title your page.

29. Use a simple layout plan for your album. By this we mean use the same layout over and over again, make it different by changing the color scheme on each page. Think how quickly your album will get done!

30. Use stencils and color them in with chalk, pencil or marker. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it’s really not. Just lay down the stencil (on paper or directly on your page) and draw it on! Now you’ve got a beautiful hand-made element added to your layout that looks like you put a lot of time into.

31. Get help! Recruit the help of your daughter or even your husband. Not only are you spending quality time with your loved ones, but you’re adding a different style to your album.

32. Memorabilia add great decoration to your layouts. Tickets to a Rolling Stones concert and a photo or two is all you need!

33. You don’t have the time or will to scrapbook Your Life? Pick the important events like getting married, having a baby and your child’s First Communion. It’s ok!

34. Low on inspiration? Join a scrapbooking forum to get ideas from other scrappers!

35. Rub-Ons are easy to use and look great. All you need is a popsicle stick to rub them down and you’re good to go!

36. Books, books, books! Go to the library or visit your local bookstore for books on scrapbooking or quotes. I love the books on quotes, they are great for titles!

37. Decorate your pages with borders. You can use sticker borders or make a quick border with some paper. You can either tear the edges or use a border template and cut it out.

38. Spend an hour while watching Desperate Housewives making borders. Cut paper into strips, make the edges scalloped, wavy, zigzag by using a border template, or you can hand-tear the edges. Add some stickers for pizazz. Now you’re ready to go next time you scrap.

39. Don’t have any stencils or templates on hand? Look around…use cool shaped items found in your home to use as stencils!

40. Don’t know what adhesive to use? I know…the options are endless. Whatever you decide, just stick with adhesives that are specifically made for scrapbooking and don’t use glue that isn’t acid free. I personally love the tape runner. It’s EASY to apply and a little goes a long way Tiffany CuffLink on sale!

41. Use decorative edged scissors for some extra fun! Cut around a photo, paper and matting.

42. Join a scrapbooking club or start your own! Host a crop and scrap. Share each other’s ideas and tools. You wouldn’t believe how much you can get done in this type of setting!

43. Layer paper for added dimension. Why just have a single matt under your photo when you can double or triple it. Combine solids with patterned paper for an extra thrill!

44. It’s overwhelming just thinking about all you can do with a layout or what you should do. Start with a focal point and accessorize from there.

45. Set goals for yourself. Set a certain amount of time each week to get some scrapbooking done and do it (you know, like working out but only more fun)!!! It doesn’t have to be a huge chunk of time. Perhaps an hour or two here and there. Eventually you will get caught up.

46. Use ribbon to give your pages some oomph. Add a bow or border your layout with it. It’s as easy as gluing it down.

47. I can’t stress this enough…don’t over think what you’re going to do! Believe me, I was one who would sit for an hour thinking I had to make the best layout ever. What a waste of time, not to mention the frustration that goes along with it. Just stick with a plan and go for it.

48. Embellishments do add some pizazz. If you like the way embellishments look, by all means, use them! They look difficult and some are, but if you stick to basic embellishments, like buttons or brads, then they can be a quick fix for a page dilemma.

49. Don’t scrap everything. If you have photographs that you love, but don’t have the room or energy, organize them in an acid-free photo box.

50. Keep a small notepad with you. When you get inspired or have a great idea Tiffany Pendant sale, jot it down! It’ll be extremely helpful to you when you sit to do some scrapbooking.

51. Take a deep breath and don’t stress. Scrapbooking is supposed to be fun so don’t let it raise your blood pressure. Don’t take it too seriously, just get your photos down any way you can!

52. When all else fails Tiffany Bangles, hire a company that will actually do your scrapbooking for you. It may be expensive, but at least it’ll get done!

Find Out About the New Cricut Imagine from Provo Craft

The ,Tiffany Watch saleCricut Imagine was a hot seller on HSN during its launch party on September 14, 2010. Those who did not get a sneak peek of this machine on HSN may wonder what the buzz is all about. Get the scoop here…

The Imagine die cut machine is an invention of the Provo Craft brand. If that name sounds familiar, there is a good reason. Provo Craft has brought us unique crafting products such as the Expression die cut machine, Yudu screen printing system, CuttleBug embossing and die cutting system, and the Knifty Knitter, just to name a few. It is a well-known brand, popular with both scrapbooking hobbyists and professional artists.

This new item from them is unique in that it combines the power of a wide format printer with their electronic die cutting technology.

{No longer do crafters need a stock of of multicolored card stock and paper to make colorful die cuts. {Instead, this machine can transform white cardstock into colorful cutouts. These can either be printed and cut as one-dimensional images, or the pieces can be printed ala carte, allowing users to add dimension to their cutouts with glue dots,Tiffany Bangles, embossing,Tiffany Watches, and other paper piecing techniques.

No computer is needed to operate the Cricut Imagine. Instead, cutouts can be made from Provo Craft’s first generation cartridge series. These originalcarts can be used simultaneously with the new Imagine-only cartridges. {These contain patterns and images for printing, similar to the digital papers that many scrapbook artists use in their projects.

This machine can be used on a wide variety of materials, including not only paper and cardstock, but printable vinyl, thin wood veneer, iron on fabric, canvas and more. It can print and cut up to 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″. Although the Cricut Imagine inks are not acid-free, they are close! Their pH levels are 6.5 to 7. As stated earlier,Tiffany Money Clips, it can be used with the first general cartridges from Cricut. In addition, it can also be used with many of the other items, such as the Gypsy handheld layout designer and the Jukebox cartridge holder.

It is also simple to operate. Users can browse through the different images on the cartridges, and select the designs they want to cut and print using the LCD touchscreen interface. Both a color wheel and and a color picker are included in this LCD interface, giving owners the opportunity to print paper and cardstock in virtually any color imaginable. For custom-colored paper, and RGB input area is also included.

What does the future of the Cricut Imagine hold? Only time will tell, but it does offer a lot of versatility that is sure to be not only useful, but also a timesaver as well.

How does the Cricut Imagine compare to Provo Craft’s other popular die cut machine, the Cricut Expression? Visit my blog to compare both models and to get ideas for projects.

Neilson trial back after holiday break

Sparks may fly today in Day 4 of Oxford FBI agent Hal Neilson’s trial in U.S. District Court.

Prosecutors are expected to re-question Steven Gomez, Neilson’s former agency supervisor, using character-related information taken from a sealed report.

Wednesday,Tiffany Watch, as the court day was drawing to a close, government attorney Richard Bourgeois Jr. asked Gomez if he would change his positive opinions about Neilson, if he knew otherwise from an investigation of Neilson’s actions during "Second Hand Smoke."

"Second Hand Smoke" is the FBI’s name for a multi-state undercover probe into a blackmarket tobacco ring, which had warehouses in Lee County. Neilson led the operation into its activities.

Two days ago, Gomez testified he had no reason to question Neilson’s truthfulness and trustworthiness.

Defense attorneys Christi R. McCoy of Oxford and Ronald Michael of Booneville had the Veterans Day holiday to decide how to react today.

Neilson,Tiffany Money Clip, 49, is accused in a five-count indictment of lying about his financial interests in an Oxford building,Tiffany CuffLink on sale, which houses the FBI and two other agencies.

He is a partner in C&G Properties LLC, which owns the building, and will claim he received verbal permission from the Jackson FBI’s top legal counsel for that participation, called an outside position.

If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 25 years in prison and a $1.25 million fine.

Prosecutors Rene Salomon and Bourgeois are directing the government’s case.

So far,Tiffany Bangles, their witnesses have been Patrick Kelly, the FBI’s top ethics official; John Covington, Neilson’s C&G business partner; William Jeffreys, a Renasant Bank official; and Hogan Allen, a Jackson CPA.

Covington testified under a government deal to avoid prosecution if he told the truth.

Once the government rests its case, the defense will take over before a 12-member jury.

rings and Former assessor, wife accused of malfeasance

A report released by the Washington state auditor’s office Wednesday alleges the former Asotin County assessor and the chief deputy treasurer abused their positions for personal financial gain while costing the county money.

According to the report, Anthony Rogers used his position as county assessor to purchase property from an owner who was more than four years’ delinquent on property taxes. Rogers resigned from his elected position Monday, citing health reasons.

Rather than foreclosing the property after 31/2 years, which the county is required to do by state law, the report states Rogers and his wife, rings, Tiffany Rogers, paid the delinquent $1,301.88 in taxes and the landowner transferred ownership to them through a quitclaim deed.

"I knew the person personally," Rogers said in a phone interview Wednesday. "His wife was sick and he called me and asked if I was interested in the property."

Rogers said he went through a title company to purchase the property — which he said was a legal acquisition.

"Evidently, the state auditors have a different view on the purchase that was done," he said. "I thought everything legally was done. I don’t know why, after all these years, they just found out."

Tiffany Rogers resigned her position as deputy treasurer, cheap Tiffany Ring, "in lieu of termination by Asotin County," on Feb. 22, according to her resignation letter. This was due to the county commissioners’ response to the state auditor’s findings, in which they would recommend to the county treasurer Tiffany Rogers be terminated, tiffany rings, according to the report.

"The file on this foreclosure was missing from the treasurer’s office," according to the state auditor’s report. "State law requires the county to retain this file for six years."

The property transferred to the Rogers in March 2004 and was sold at its assessed value in August of that year for a reported "personal gain of $10,700 and a loss to the county of $10,700."

The auditor’s report has been reviewed by Prosecutor Ben Nichols, who will decide if criminal charges should be filed against the Rogers, who are accused of using their positions in the county "to secure special privileges."

Nichols said there should be another report detailing whether the Rogers did anything to warrant filing criminal charges.

"I can’t even speculate about what I’ll do until I’ve seen that investigation," he said. "The county commissioners may or may not be sending it to me to consider criminal charges."

If charges are filed, a special prosecutor may be appointed to represent the county, because of the conflict of interest, he said.

Commissioner R.E. (Buck) Lane confirmed the commissioners made the recommendation to terminate Tiffany Rogers’ position after the state auditor’s office submitted a draft of its findings.

"We had no control over an elected official," Lane said of Anthony Rogers’ position, "But we supported the treasurer’s office in terminating (Tiffany Rogers)."

Tiffany Rogers could not be reached for comment, but issued a statement by e-mail Wednesday, stating she and her husband were within their legal rights to purchase the property and questioning the auditor’s office’s investigation.

"We believe a short audit was conducted and placed blame too soon before all the facts were presented,Tiffany Bangles," according to the e-mail.

The e-mail explains the property had been in foreclosure status at the time of the purchase, but "the foreclosure process had not been started yet by the Asotin County treasurer."

"Foreclosure laws were not circumvented since the property was not in the foreclosure process," Tiffany Rogers’ e-mail states, adding the foreclosure clerk, not her, would handle the files the auditor’s office claims were missing. Those files remain missing, said Asotin County Treasurer Margaret Crabb, who began working with Tiffany Rogers in 1989.

"I’ve had my staff looking and they haven’t been able to come up with them at all," she said. "There would have been information from the property in question. I think this (state auditor’s) report is very clear about what happened."

The vacant assessor seat will be filled by the commissioners, said Shannon Inzunza, human resource director. Since Rogers is a Democrat, a list of possible candidates will be submitted to commissioners for consideration from the Asotin County Democratic Party, she said.

"They would probably give us a list after some interviews," Lane said. "We would probably interview and make a decision at that time."

Lane added the search may have to wait until March 23, when Commissioner Doug Mattoon returns from vacation.

Cufflinks Rule at the 2008 George A. Schuetz Design Contest

The Gemological Institute of America issued the following news release:

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced the three winners of the annual George A. Schuetz Jewelry Design Contest. Named in honor of men’s jewelry designer George Schuetz, this international competition was established in 1973 to recognize the best original designs in men’s jewelry and accessories.

The George A. Schuetz Contest is hosted by GIA and open to all designers. Phillip Weeks, GIA Manager, Office of Student Financial Assistance, who manages the program, tiffany, said the contest attracted 102 entries this year. "Having coordinated this contest for 18 years, I have seen thousands of entries. It has become a special contest for new and established designers to be recognized for their innovative designs. This contest is unique in that it focuses solely on jewelry for men."

First place went to Erik Stewart, G.G. of Tucson, tiffany bangles, Arizona for his cufflinks and ring set. The cufflinks are made of palladium 950 with 18k yellow cylinder accents set with padparadscha. The ring is set with an oval-cut 1.25 ct padparadscha in 18K with bezel, inner band of 18k is revealed through pierced outer 950 palladium band.

As his first place prize, Stewart will receive $500 and a crystal trophy.

Learning of his win, tiffany earrings, Stewart wrote, "I am ecstatic to receive first prize on the George A. Schuetz contest. I am so proud of this start in this industry and can’t wait to see what will come next."

"The title of the design I submitted is "Phoenix," which I meant literally and metaphorically. The warm hues of the padparadscha sapphire and yellow gold infuse new life into the palladium shell as a wonderful color combination and the use of negative space reveals and reflects one another.

"Gentlemen’s jewelry deserves worldwide expectations of fine design, true color, tiffany cufflinks, and exceptional workmanship. Thank you, to the Schuetz family and GIA, for this fantastic opportunity: it’s truly an honor."

Second prize winner was Joana Miranda of Milwaukee, Wisconsin who designed a pair of men’s cufflinks in a yin and yang pattern. The cufflinks are made of palladium, 7.5 mm black and white Akoya pearls, bead-set melee diamonds and millegrain detailing. Miranda said, "Designing men’s jewelry is a wonderful challenge because it encourages me to redefine elegance from a masculine point of view. I’m grateful to the George A. Schuetz contest for providing this challenge and I’m especially delighted and honored to be recognized among the prizewinners."

The third place winner was Stacey Liem, of Carlsbad, California, who designed men’s cufflinks made of sapphire stones in platinum. Liem said, "I feel very honored to receive third place in the George A. Schuetz design contest. GIA has given me the knowledge and confidence to be the first in my family to pursue a career in the jewelry industry. I am excited to explore all the facets of what this industry has to offer."

Miranda and Liem will receive a crystal trophy to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Contestants in the George A. Schuetz competition must submit original renderings in June and judging will be completed in August. Contestants may submit only one original color design, and it must not have been previously exhibited or offered for sale. Entries are independent judged on overall design, tiffany money clips, wearability, manufacturability and appeal.

Charm bracelet reflects impact of computer

For my 16th birthday last October, my mom gave me a silver charm bracelet. The dainty charms, I was informed, were more or less symbolic of my life thus far. There’s a soccer ball for my love of soccer, a dog that uncannily resembles my Shiba Inu, Ginger, and a computer. At first I was taken aback. Really? A computer? Is this what helps to define my life? It seemed like a rather impersonal and materialistic representation. But then, recently, I was devastated to learn that my computer hard drive had epically crashed. In the loss of all my files (my digital photos, tiffany bracelets, homemade films and a treasured portfolio of essays), I realized that my computer is somewhat of a lifeline for me. It is very much like an integral extension of my mind, bringing my ideas to life.

There is no doubt that the computer and the Internet have revolutionized communication and collaboration to a world wide level. Through forums and blogs, ideas can be shared with the click of a mouse. There is no longer just one side to a story, tiffany earrings, and the Internet gives a voice to the people, no matter how biased or false that voice may be. The computer and the Internet lend so many opportunities, it would be impossible not to take them all for granted.

My computer ventures are, self-admittedly, not the grandest; in fact, they are seemingly rather trite. I stick to the usuals: e-mail, Word, Google, Facebook, and Youtube. My mundane rituals, tiffany rings, however, have jump-started my most glorious life-long hobbies and accomplishments. From watching hours and hours of Youtube, tiffany bangles, has grown my love for filmmaking and documentaries. Through Word, I’ve written many an English grade-salvaging essay.

My computer may just be made of shiny plastic, along with a fair share of little nano-things, but it’s more than just a cool technology gizmo. It’s a window to the world, an outlet for creativity. And I wear it optimistically on my bracelet, not only as a symbol of my life, tiffany Pendants, but of the future.

held a fashion show fundraiser Sunday at the Hotel

Terry Smith wasn’t sure she wanted to step onto the runway as a model. She is typically a shy woman.

But a director at Bethany Hall, a Roanoke women’s substance abuse treatment program, asked Smith an important question one day — "What are you willing to do for your recovery?"

Smith said she was willing to step outside her comfort zone and participate in the center’s fashion show fundraiser held Sunday at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. Her recovery from drug addiction changed her life’s direction.

"It’s part of giving back," said Smith, 30. "There is another way. You don’t always have to be stuck in the dark."

Smith was one of 63 Bethany Hall graduates, employees and supporters who modeled the latest fall apparel ensembles from regional retailers Sunday during a fashion show, pampering event and fundraiser for the nonprofit treatment facility.

Bethany Hall, like other nonprofits, has been hit hard by statewide budget cuts. Last year,Bead bracelet, the facility located in Old Southwest lost a contract with the state’s Department of Corrections to help former inmates make the transition from prison to life in the community.

Budget slimming also forced the center to cut three staff positions, leaving it with 14 employees, Executive Director Vickie Price said. The facility, open since 1970, houses between 12 and 15 women at its main center on Franklin Road.

Women also can stay in the center’s apartments next door. An average stay is six to nine months.

Price said she hoped to raise at least $10,000 at the event, called Runway for Recovery. Last year’s show, the first one for the center, raised about $4,200, she said.

Price didn’t yet know the amount raised Sunday.

The fashion event, with its elegant and casual apparel showcase and offerings of face painting and manicures for attendees, reflects Bethany Hall’s mission.

"We always say that a recovering woman is beautiful," Price said. "We want the audience to see that beauty comes in all sizes."

It has taken Smith years to learn to love herself. Her addiction to prescription drugs began when she was 19 years old, she said. After various struggles and attempts at treatment and recovery, Smith ended up in the Virginia Correctional Center for Women in Goochland for violating a probation order.

A year later, in July 2008, Smith relocated to Bethany Hall. The move was her saving grace, tiffany pendants, she said.
